Behind the Mask: Meet Tristan

Tristan is one of our featured fighters for the Heroes in Healing program. If you’re a member of our monthly giving program, you’ve probably seen his smiling face before. Now, you can learn more about the brave kid behind the mask.

Tristan was diagnosed with leukemia in September 2018. His two-year chemotherapy treatment ended this past January 16, and his final procedure occurred April 23: the removal of his port. Tristan started kindergarten at Francis McClure Elementary School just a few days after he rang the bell to celebrate the end of his treatment.

Tristan’s mom, Nevenka, says, “It was the best day for all of us! Tristan was very excited and enjoyed seeing his doctors, Dr. Halligan & Dr. Friehling, his friends, Mike and Hannah from Child Life, nurses, and all the staff who came to celebrate and cheer for his victory over cancer.”

Tristan is now a very happy little boy who loves to smile and play with his brothers and friends. Thanks to the consistent contributions of our Heroes in Healing, kids like Tristan get a chance for a new beginning.
